A little help
Silent Tempo support
Find your rhythm, make it yours, and save it for the next class.
This guide covers the latest Silent Tempo experience for iPhone. Older builds may use the previous Pace name or show different controls. Your saved classes and settings stay with the app when you update. Apple Watch support is planned for a future release and is not included.
Your first class
- Set Strong buzz, Soft taps, and Class length. Hold a control, slide up or down through the expanded wheel, then release to set it. You can also tap to open the wheel.
- Choose a strong interval from 5 seconds to 60 minutes. Soft taps can be Off or an available subdivision of that interval. Choose a whole-minute class length up to 180 minutes, or Until I stop. The class must be at least one strong interval long.
- Open Settings at the top right to choose and try your strong, soft, and ending vibrations. Test with the phone where you plan to carry it.
- Tap Start class. Keep Silent Tempo open and your iPhone unlocked for vibration cues. The screen stays awake while pacing.
The inner stopwatch shows the next strong cue, with soft-tap times around the dial. The outer ring tracks your full class, with the time remaining below. A strong cue takes the place of a soft tap when they coincide.
During a class
Pause, adjust, resume, or end
While class is running, adjustment controls are hidden so the timer is easy to glance at. Tap Pause class to bring back the timing controls and Settings. Paused time does not count toward your class.
You can change the interval, soft taps, class length, or vibration choices while paused. Elapsed class time is preserved. Changing the pacing interval or soft taps starts a fresh cue cycle when you resume.
Tap Resume class to continue. Hold the same button to end. Rapid warning taps build as you hold. Release early or move your finger away to cancel the hold.
Make the vibrations feel right
In Settings, choose a pattern and strength separately for Strong, Soft, and End. Each has a preview so you can try it before class. The end cue includes a finish-sequence option with strong beats and a longer final buzz.
Timing wheels give firm tactile feedback as you move between values. What you feel depends on the phone, case, clothing, and placement. Silent Tempo adds no speaker audio, but physical vibration can make a sound on a hard surface.
If you feel no cues, check your iPhone’s Settings → Accessibility → Touch → Vibration. Return to Silent Tempo and try a vibration preview. A “Phone cues off” message means the class clock is running without phone haptics.
Use Pocket mode
While your class is running, tap Pocket mode. Silent Tempo dims the screen and hides its controls. Ordinary taps leave the screen protected. Hold anywhere on the screen and feel increasingly strong taps, followed by a distinct unlock cue when the controls return. Release early to cancel the unlock and keep the screen protected.
Pocket mode stays protected if you briefly switch apps, lock the phone, or receive an interruption, then returns when Silent Tempo becomes active again. It does not lock the phone, turn off its display, disable system gestures, or provide background vibration cues.
Save a class. Make it a repeat.
Open Classes or the saving options in Settings to name and save a setup. A class remembers its strong interval, soft taps, length, and vibration choices. Load it next time, then tap Start class. Loading a setup never starts a timer automatically.
Before starting, tap the class name or Unsaved changes to open its setup actions. You can compare current and saved timing, then choose:
- Update saved class: replace that class’s saved timing and vibrations with your current choices.
- Restore saved setup: discard the unsaved changes and return to the saved timing and vibrations.
- Save as new: keep the current setup under another name, preserving the original.
Classes also has actions to edit, rename, and delete saved setups. Deleting a class keeps your current timer settings.
Where are my saved classes?
Classes live on the device where you create them. Silent Tempo has no online account or shared cloud library. Device backups may include app data, depending on your settings.
If Silent Tempo cannot read a library, it preserves it rather than replacing it. Contact support before deleting the app if you see that message.
When you change songs or switch apps
The clock continues. iPhone buzzes need Silent Tempo open and unlocked. Switching apps or locking the phone does not pause class time, but iOS does not allow Silent Tempo’s phone vibrations to keep playing in the background.
A Live Activity shows the active class on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island on supported iPhones. It can provide session controls, but it does not create background haptics. If it does not appear, check that Live Activities are allowed for Silent Tempo in iPhone Settings.
When you return, Silent Tempo shows the current class time and continues with upcoming cues. Missed vibrations are skipped. If the class finishes while Silent Tempo is away, it finishes silently instead of playing an overdue ending sequence.
To stop class time during a break, pause before leaving Silent Tempo. The app keeps a local session checkpoint so an interrupted session can be recovered; it does not keep a completed-workout history.
Apple Watch support
Apple Watch support is planned for a future release. The current app is for iPhone and does not include a Watch app. No release date has been announced.
Silent Tempo requires iOS 18 or later and an iPhone with supported haptic output.
